"Now for Future" Project launched by APYE Thailand Alumni Team SDG 12
Read to know more about our SDG 12 Team's community project, conceptualized during APYE Thailand January 2017 and recently launched!
A group of 5 of us from China, India, Papua New Guinea, Singapore and Taiwan, came together because of Asia Pacific Youth Exchange - Thailand 2017, to learn how we can actualise the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations by 2030. During this exchange, we chose SDG12: 'Responsible Consumption and Production' as our area of focus.
We visited our local immersion site at Mab Euang Agri-nature Centre and were inspired by how self-reliant and sustainable the locals are by leading their lives based on the late Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. Having received so much, we wanted to do something in return for them too. Seeing the amount of plastic waste around, we started sharing with them alternatives to plastic and together, hope to build a truly sustainable community.
As we returned to our respective countries, we like to deepen our personal efforts and create a platform where we can encourage the students, as well as one another to lead a more waste-free life. We understand how difficult it may be to start and continue our effort, so we hope this page can help. Join us here and document your journey to leading a zero-waste lifestyle!
