Asia Pacific Youth Exchange
Asia Pacific Youth Exchange (APYE) is a regional youth programme, which responds to the global need of actively engaging youth in localized Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiatives. By working with multiple stakeholders in local communities and in decision-making processes, selected youth delegates are given a unique opportunity to learn and hone the skills necessary to participate in SDGs-related activities. Founded in 2016, and is currently established in 3 countries including South Korea, The Philippines and Thailand, with more than 1500 APYE alumnus from over 25 countries.
- Improve young people’s understanding of SDGs and their roles in achieving them
- Increase understanding and cooperation among young people across Asia and the Pacific through cross cultural
dialogues, networking and partnerships
- Build the capacity of youth in implementing projects and activities aligned to the SDGs
- Strengthen global and regional partnership for the SDGs and youth development in Asia and the Pacific
- Identify opportunities for inclusion of youth in decision-making and implementation of the SDGs
- Promote youth volunteering as a tool to support achieving the SDGs.
Leadership & Development Training
The Leadership Development Training will provide knowledge on sustainable development and equip the participants with skills on project management, research, and community integration.
This component consists of a 3 days of residential workshops aiming to achieve the following objectives:
a. Improve Self-Awareness of Participants
b. Understanding Context and Role of Youth in achieving SDGs
c. Improve Design Thinking and Social Entrepreneurship skills
d. Team Building & Cultural Exchange
The local immersion to different communities in Thailand gave the participants the opportunity to engage with communities to develop a deeper understanding of existing development challenges on the ground in relation to the SDGs. Delegates are divided into teams in alignment with SDGs to enhance solutions for existing challenges in the local communities, with customized agenda and focus to best utilized their skills trained on teamwork and social entrepreneurship. Each local engagement helped form tangible outputs in the form of research and social projects recommendations.
Through 6 days immersed into local communities, following objectives will be met:
a. Immersion into local reality
b. Put theory on practice
c. Improve cultural understanding
During the Youth Symposium, the participants showcased their social project outputs developed during Local Immersion to the plenary. The symposium also featured mentoring sessions for each SDG team lead by key development partners and specialists in related areas. Future planning and Career Fair were held on after the competition to help guide career orientation of youth delegates to be active achiever of the SDGs. On the last day of the program, participants went on Study Tours to experience one last time the essence of hosting country Thailand.
Through 2 days conference the following objectives will be met:
a. Validate solutions and seek resources to sustain them
b. Meet the demands of the future
c. Planning for next steps

6 - 18 January 2020
6 January - Airport Pick Up & Arrival Reception
You don't need to worry about getting lost in your first day in Bangkok. We will provide Airport Pick Up Service which will directly take you to the conference hotel.
Orientation will be in the evening to welcome and prepare you for your journey ahead.
7 January - High Level Forum
Honorable guest speakers from many sectors such as United Nations Development Agencies, Governments and Social Enterprises will lead you to have a deeper understanding about Sustainable Development Goals, reflect on youth's role towards its achievement and the context of Thailand on the road to sustainability.
7 January - Cultural Night
Enjoy the cultural differences! There will be country culture booth, cultural performance and local snacks from across Asia Pacific. It's time to celebrate diversity and peace!
8-9 January - Leadership Development Training
Learn important soft & hard skills needed to become a change agent. Gain more knowledge about Social Entrepreneurship, how to research deep into social issues and create innovative projects on sustainable impacts as a team.
9-15 January - Local Immersion
Get to know how to become an insider while staying in local community and create a sustainable impact on social issues. You will get connected with Local Government & Authorities, learn from Social Enterprises and hear from Local People. Explore the real problem they are facing and develop the solution together, while having a unique experience that will shape your perspective on youth role towards SDGs contribution.
16-17 January - Youth Symposium
It's time to showcase what you can do as a young person! An interactive symposium in which you will receive mentorship from experts from various areas related to your SDG, be able to showcase your ideas to make a change in the society in front network of Government officials, United Nations Agencies, Social Enterprises, & Incubators.
17 January - Memories Night
Grab your chance to network with aligned values guests and explore future possibilities to keep contributing to achieving SDGs and social impact after APYE.
18 January - Airport Drop Off & Departure

APYE strongly encourage you to source your own funding to participate in the program from your university, local organization or government. APYE can provide invitation letter to support your funding application as requested.

Who can attend the program?
Youth from any countries and territories in the world, is between the age of 18-30 years old and interested in social issues and sustainable development can apply to join the program.
How can I attend the program?
A selection process comprises of Application Form & Interview Round is required for all participants. Simply submit your Application Form and we'll contact you for next steps via email.
How do I pay for the program?
Only confirmed delegate of the program who passed our selection process is required to make payment. You can pay a total amount via international bank transfer; or make a deposit of 30% your delegation fee before coming to the program and pay the remaining amount in Thailand.
Do I need a VISA to come to Thailand?
